July 1 is International Reggae Day, a 24 hour global media festival anchored in Jamaica that celebrates the best of Jamaica’s music and creativity and its influence around the world. As the global reggae family and representatives of the entertainment media pay tribute to the artists and music producers who create and present reggae to the world, Majesty Media also takes the opportunity to highlight three international reggae music festivals celebrating their 25th anniversary this year.
The Austin Reggae Festival 2018 was staged April 20 to 22 under the theme “Celebrating 25 Years of Positive Vibrations”. According to very reliable sources, the audience size was the biggest in the festival’s history, enabling the festival promoters to make a donation of over US$120,000 to the Central Texas Food Bank. From June 22 to 24 Epiphany Artists presented its annual summer solstice & world peace celebration Sierra Nevada World Music Festival – SNWMF25 at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds in Boonville California. Rototom Sunsplash, the largest reggae festival in the world, takes place August 16 to 22 in Benicassim, Spain, and is promoted with the hashtag #25yearswalkingtogether.
