DUB is an original Jamaican music form rooted in heavy drum and bass with a sprinkling of echo, reverb and delay effects. TONIC is a medicinal substance taken to give a feeling of vigor or well-being. According to Jubba “Dubtonic Kru” White, the music of Dubtonic Kru is medicine music.
Founding members of Dubtonic Kru, “Jubba” and “Stone” represent another dynamic Jamaican drum & bass duo, who over the years have contributed to the development of modern roots reggae, with their unique sound and approach that intertwines Jubba’s mesmerizing Reggae/Jazz Fusion drumming with Stone’s groovy, yet pulsating bass lines. The duo has gained a decade and a half of experience touring and or recording with artists such as Max Romeo, U-Roy, Burning Spear, The Mighty Diamonds, Jesse Royal, Bushman, Junior Kelly, Richie Spice and Lutan Fyah. The addition of long time friend and versatile guitarist/vocalist Jallanzo, established the nucleus of the band Dubtonic Kru. In 2011 Jubba established the company White Stone Productions, which has provided a platform for the production and release of recordings produced by Jubba and featuring a variety of artists.
Recent medicine music served by Dubtonic Kru and White Stone Productions include the single and video 99% which speaks to issues of income inequality and the power of a united majority to make change happen. Coming soon will be the album “In Our America” co-produced by Jubba for White Stone Productions and featuring award winning singer and songwriter AARON NIGEL SMITH. “More Love” is the first single and video from the “In Our America” album.
Stay tuned for more.
